The Growing Place provides a variety of counseling services in order to meet the needs of a diverse community. We provide services through licensed counselors, Interns, and lay counselors in order to meet many needs of the Chico area, surrounding communities, and beyond.
Licensed Therapists
We staff and work in conjunction with a variety of local, licensed therapists. We are able to provide you with a referral list should you desire to see a licensed therapist other than those on staff. In some cases we make direct referrals.
Counselor Interns
Counselor interns have a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or Social Work and are registered with the California Licensing Board. They are under the supervision of a licensed therapist, while they work towards their professional license.
Counselor Trainees
Counselor trainees are graduate students completing their Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. They are currently earning hours toward their MFT license and are under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
Lay Biblical Counselors
Lay Counselors Are trained and certified by The American Association of Christian Counselors through the program Caring for People God's Way. Some of the Lay Counselors have been through various other forms of training, including Theophostic Prayer Ministry. Just like the Interns and Trainees, Lay Counselors are under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
